City Council approves new Upper West Side development

Extell LogoCrain’s New York Business is reporting that the City Council has unanimously approved a new development from Extell Development Corp. called Riverside Center, a 3.1 million square foot mixed-use project.

As part of the deal, Extell agreed to perform several enhancements to the surrounding neighborhood. Originally conceived with five high-rise apartment towers, retail space and a 75,000 square foot school, oen of the concessions increases the size of the school to 100,000 square feet. The development plan spans from West 59th Street to West 61st Street, between West End Avenue and the West Side Highway.
